Pricing Structure for Public Relations
Do I really need public relations?
The reality is that not utilizing public relations can cost you sales, or worse yet, will get you slapped with state or federal penalties if your industry violates regulations about disclosure, products or people. A solid public relations practitioner is knowledgeable about great promotion and mandatory regulations from the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), to the SEC to HIPPA to CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid).
How does Woloshin Communications charge?
We do it differently. Other agencies have hourly rates ranging from $150 to over $250. We work on a retainer system based on your budget.
What will I be charged for and what won't I be charged for?
We meet with all our clients initially at no cost. For the duration of our contract, we do not charge for administrate time, nor do we mark up any out-of-pocket services, like printing.
We start our relationship with you by listening to your issues, and we work with you to prioritize your needs. Only then do we offer you a scope of services menu, typically for a six-month engagement. Successful public relations and marketing campaigns takes time.
Most small businesses engage us for a monthly retainer between $1,800 and $3,000 a month. Mid-size companies typically sign-on for $3,500 to $5,000 a month, and larger companies, especially those dealing with regulatory issues, start their retainers at $6,000.
What can I get done for only $1,800?
We use our decades of expertise to move faster and engage key stakeholders almost immediately, simply because we know our business inside and out. For the above retainer, your organization could:
- Engage in a local and national media campaign
- Execute a successful event
- Market and launch a new product
- Ramp up staff skills (so they can do it themselves)
- Develop start-up collateral
Are other campaigns more expensive?
Yes. Typically any effort involving litigation, regulatory violations, recalls, disclosure issues or crisis will require more time, and more hours of work.
That is why we are so careful to advise clients on scope of work, what our deliverables can (and can not) be according to your budget, and why we invest the time to meet with you to determine your needs.
What about Pro Bono?
Woloshin Communications takes on two pro bono accounts annually. For our current effort, go to preservervativefreelife.org.
